Office: MOM Task Manager Selection Runs TASKMAN.EXE Only

Q112238

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.2

SUMMARY

The Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) versions 4.0 and 4.2 have a toolbar button and menu command that can be enabled to bring up the Windows Task List. However, this option will not bring up any other task switcher that is set on the "TASKMAN.EXE=" setting in the SYSTEM.INI file.

MORE INFORMATION

In the SYSTEM.INI file, located in the \WINDOWS directory, you can specify the task-switching application that will appear when you press CTRL+ESC. If this setting does not appear in the SYSTEM.INI file, then the Windows Task Manager is used.

Microsoft Office Manager does not look to the SYSTEM.INI to find out which task switcher is supposed to be used; instead, it runs TASKMAN.EXE (the Windows Task Manager) directly.
