SUMMARY

The HPISA.SYS driver on the Microsoft Download Library (MSDL) supports the Hewlett-Packard (HP) 27245a, 27250a, 27247a, 27247b, 27252b and the ISA Ethernet adapters. The HP 27247b is a software-configurable card. However, changing the adapter settings by configuring the Windows NT driver does not change the settings on the card.

MORE INFORMATION

If the card is set for a different IRQ, I/O address, or so forth, than the HPISA.SYS driver, the following error message appears in the System Log of Event Viewer:

Cannot detect adapter

To reconfigure the adapter, start MS-DOS and run the MS-DOS-based configuration program HPLANSET. Select Manual Configuration to change the settings, then enter the settings to the card.

Next, restart Windows NT and verify that the settings for the Windows NT HPISA.SYS driver match the settings of the HP network card.
