SUMMARY

In the Works for Windows Database module's Form view, you can insert a soft carriage return (that is, line feed) in a field formatted for more than one line by pressing SHIFT+ENTER. This allows consecutive lines to have information typed in without having to fill the entire previous line.

However, if you press SHIFT+ENTER in the Database module's list view, Works inserts a paragraph mark instead of moving to the next line. This paragraph mark will print, whether you are printing from list view or report view.

In Works 4.0, 4.5, or 4.5a, when you press SHIFT+ENTER, the Database module's List view inserts a unrecognizable character instead of moving to the next line. The unrecognizable character doesn't print in List view or Report view. However, Works continues to print text on the same line, ignoring the soft return.

You can wrap text within a field in list view by clicking Alignment on the Format menu and selecting the Wrap Text check box. However, your text will not wrap until the previous line is full of information.
