How to Use the Report Writer to Preview or Print Graphs

ID: Q111998

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, 2.6

SUMMARY

Graphics created in the Relational Query By Example (RQBE) tool using Microsoft Graph can be used within FoxPro applications. The graphic images can be previewed or printed in the Report Writer.

MORE INFORMATION

To include the graphic image in the Report Writer, do the following:

  1. Save the graph created in either Microsoft Graph or RQBE. The file containing the graphic image is called QRYGRAPH.DBF by default in RQBE.
  2. Use the QRYGRAPH file generated previously in RQBE or Microsoft Graph.
  3. Create a report and select the Picture tool from the toolbox.
  4. Position the cursor where you want the image to be displayed on the report form.
  5. From the Report Picture dialog box, select the Picture From Field option.
  6. Select the general field called OLEGRAPH from the file named QRYGRAPH.DBF.

NOTE: In FoxPro 2.6, "graph" is a reserved word. Do not use the word "graph" in a table name, report name, or name of a general field.

  1. Under "If Picture and Frame Different Size," select "Scale Picture -- Retain Shape," and then choose OK.
  2. Size the image by dragging the corner of the object to the desired height, width, and size.
  3. Save the report form.
