XL5: GET.WORKBOOK(16) and GET.DOCUMENT(1) Not the Same

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0

SUMMARY

Microsoft Excel Help states that the GET.WORKBOOK(16) function is equivalent to GET.DOCUMENT(1). This information is incorrect.

The GET.WORKBOOK(16) function returns the name of the active workbook as text (for example, "Book1"). The GET.DOCUMENT(1) function, however, returns the name of the active sheet as text (for example, "[Book1]Sheet1") if there is more than one sheet in the workbook.
