1. Q. What s new in PowerPoint 4.0?

   A. PowerPoint 4.0 is significantly different from PowerPoint versions
      2.0 and 3.0, and contains many new features. For example, PowerPoint
      4.0 includes the following seven improvements:

      1. When running on-screen slideshows, you can now branch to
         other presentations.

      2. The new version of WordArt allows you to create many fancy
         text effects using TrueType fonts.

      3. The new rotation tool allows you to rotate text, drawings,
         and PowerPoint objects to any angle.

      4. You can now create many different styles of dashed and
         dotted lines.

      5. The new table feature allows you to create tables quickly
         and easily.

      6. The new AutoLayout feature automatically creates the
         arrangement you want for the next slide. It includes 21
         different automatic layouts.

      7. Format Painter lets you easily copy and apply formatting
         with just one click of the mouse.

2. Q. What other usage improvements does PowerPoint 4.0 contain?

   A. PowerPoint 4.0 contains many more new features, including the
      following seven features:

      1. You can hide slides that you don t want to appear on a
         specific slide show.

      2. PowerPoint 4.0 includes 165 templates and more than 1000 clip-art
         images.

      3. PowerPoint now offers TrueColor support, which makes scanned
         color images look better on 256-color displays.

      4. Pick-a-Look Wizards help you get started creating a new
         presentation.

      5. You can access shortcut menus with a click of the right mouse
         button.

      6. You can easily create organizational charts with a new tool on
         the toolbar.

      7. You can customize the toolbars by adding buttons for features
         you use frequently.

3. Q. What new text handling features does PowerPoint 4.0 include?

   A. PowerPoint 4.0 introduces the following two new text formatting
      features:

      1. The Period feature automatically places periods at the end of
         all your paragraphs.

      2. Change Case lets you quickly reformat text to uppercase,
         lowercase, title case, toggle case, or sentence case.

   A. PowerPoint 4.0 includes many new features that make it easier

         time you start PowerPoint. These messages give you pointers and
         inform you of tools or options you may not have known about
         before.

      3. PowerPoint includes a Context Sensitive Help toolbar button,
         so that the Help you get pertains directly to what you are
         doing.

      4. The PowerPoint Quick Preview demonstrates PowerPoint s
         features and gives you an introduction to the application.

      5. You can choose to use Cue Cards, which provide step-by-step
         instructions to help you accomplish tasks.

5. Q. How does PowerPoint 4.0 support greater interoperatiblity
      between Microsoft Windows-based applications?

   A. PowerPoint 4.0 allows you to work more effectively with other
      applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, as
      well as with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups. The following
      are five examples:

      1. PowerPoint s multiple toolbars are consistent with those in
         Microsoft Word 6.0 and Microsoft Excel 4.0.

      2. PowerPoint, Word, and Excel share many dialog boxes, so
         you don t have to shift gears when you switch between
         applications.

      3. You now draw objects the same way in PowerPoint as you do
         in Word 6.0 and Excel 4.0.

      4. The mouse and keyboard commands in PowerPoint are, in many
         cases, the same as those in Word and Excel.

      5. You can use Word and Excel tables in PowerPoint slides.

6. Q. What new graphing capabilities does PowerPoint 4.0 include?

   A. PowerPoint 4.0 includes Graph 5.0, which contains many
      improvements, including the following two features:

      1. Because you share the embedded graphing application with
         other Microsoft applications, you only need to learn to use
         one graphing tool.

      2. Graph 5.0 includes toolbars, shortcut menus, improved
         legends, new chart styles, a 64-color palette, and new
         charting capabilities.
