SYMPTOMS

If you changed your system font by editing your WIN.INI file, the text in some Works dialog boxes may not display correctly.

For example, if you specify SERIFF.FON as your system font on a machine running at 800 x 600 resolution, the File Organizer WorksWizard will have problems displaying the file list. The date portion may be cut off on the right side of the list.

The exact display problem you experience may differ depending on the font you select and the video driver you are using.

RESOLUTION

Remove the following line from the [Windows] section of your WIN.INI file to return to the default system font

   SystemFont=<fontname>

where <fontname> is the file you specified as the customized screen font.

MORE INFORMATION

For more information about changing your system font, query on the following keywords in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

screen and font and system and windows and change and win.ini

NOTE: This same problem may occur if either your screen font or your video driver is corrupted. If this is the case, you can correct the problem by reinstalling the Windows video driver of the appropriate resolution, and/or the appropriate video driver for your video card.
