SUMMARY

Microsoft has made available an Application Note titled "FoxPro Error Messages Help File" (FW0983). This Application Note contains a Windows Help file that describes the error messages and general troubleshooting procedures for FoxPro versions 2.0, 2.5, 2.5a, and 2.5b for MS-DOS and FoxPro versions 2.5, 2.5a, and 2.5b for Windows. Error messages for FoxDoc and the distribution kits are also included.

INTRODUCTION

The disk enclosed with this Application Note contains a Windows Help file that describes the error messages and general troubleshooting procedures for FoxPro versions 2.0, 2.5, 2.5a, and 2.5b for MS-DOS and FoxPro versions 2.5, 2.5a, and 2.5b for Windows. Error messages for FoxDoc and the distribution kits are also included.

NOTE: You must be running Windows version 3.1 in order to use this Help file.

To install the Help file

  1. Insert the enclosed FW0983 disk in your floppy disk drive.
  2. At the MS-DOS command prompt, type the following and press ENTER

          copy <drive>:\foxerror.hlp <destination>

    where <drive> is the floppy disk drive containing the FW0983 disk and <destination> is the drive and directory that contains your FoxPro files. For example, if your FoxPro files are located in the FOXPROW directory on drive C and the FW0983 disk is in drive A, type the following command:

          copy a:\foxerror.hlp c:\foxprow
  3. In Windows Program Manager, select the group window that contains your FoxPro icons.
  4. From the Program Manager File menu, choose New, select Program Item, and then choose OK.
  5. In the Description box, type FoxPro Error Messages.
  6. In the Command Line box, type

          winhelp.exe <destination>\foxerror.hlp

    where <destination> is the drive and directory that contains your FoxPro files (see step 2).

  7. Leave the Working Directory box blank, and then choose OK.

    You should now see a FoxPro Error Messages icon.

  8. Double-click the FoxPro Error Messages icon to view the Help file.
