The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 5.0

SYMPTOM

The wrong text appears in the destination of an OLE link.

CAUSE

The problem occurs if the paste-linked text was originally copied from a header or footer of a multiple-section document while in Normal view. Instead of creating a link to the correct header or footer, Word creates a link to the text found in the first section’s footer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 5.0 for the Macintosh. This problem was corrected in Word 5.1.

WORKAROUND

To paste link the desired header or footer, choose Page Layout from the View menu before copying the text.
