PSS ID Number: Q111279 Article last modified on 10-20-1995

3.00 3.00a

WINDOWS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows, versions 3.0,3.0a.

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Excel worksheets that contain links to multiple Microsoft Project files update only the first link when the worksheet is opened. The remaining links to the Microsoft Project files are not updated.

CAUSE

When you update linked information when Microsoft Project is the source application, Microsoft Project and the source project file must already be open. Otherwise, the application that updates the files will attempt to open Microsoft Project multiple times and cause the following error message:

Microsoft Project is Already Running.

Microsoft Project cannot be opened multiple times.

WORKAROUND

To update all the links, run Microsoft Project first, open the project files that are linked into the Microsoft Excel worksheet, and then open the Microsoft Excel worksheet.
