Visual C++ CONFIG.WRI Part 4: Notes for Visual C++, 32-Bit

Q111240

1.50 WINDOWS kbreadme ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows, versions 1.5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY ========= The text below presents information from Part 4 of the CONFIG.WRI file distributed with Microsoft Visual C++ version 1.5. Setup installs CONFIG.WRI in the MSVC\HELP directory. MORE INFORMATION ================= Part 4: Notes for Users of Visual C++, 32-Bit Edition Help File Errors ---------------- If you have installed Visual C++ for Windows NT, 32-Bit Edition, along with this product, you may receive the following error message when opening help files: Title setup error corrected; Please rerun Viewer. You can safely dismiss this message box and reopen the help file. This problem is due to the fact that the help files from the two products have the same names, but different full-text search index files. When you dismiss the error message box and reopen the help file, the help viewer will automatically rewrite the VIEWER.INI file to reflect the proper index file, and the error will not reappear. However, if you subsequently attempt to open a help file in the Program Manager group for the Visual C++ 16-bit product, the same error will appear. For example, if you double-click the Build Errors Help icon in the "Visual C++" program group, exit the help file, and then double-click the Build Errors Help icon in the "Visual C++ for Windows NT" program group, you will receive the above message. Note that this problem will only occur if you have installed both Visual C++ development systems on your computer. Additional reference words: 1.50 KBCategory: kbreadme KBSubcategory: VCGenIss
