Office: Cannot Delete MSOFFICE.EXE While Running Setup |

SUMMARY
If Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) is running and maintenance mode Setup is being used to uninstall the Microsoft Office Manager, you will receive the following error message when setup attempts to delete the MSOFFICE.EXE file:
Could not remove the file named: 'C:\MSOFFICE\MSOFFICE.EXE'.
This file is currently being used by another application. Please
shut down your other application.
You are given the options to abort, retry, or ignore.
WORKAROUND
Workaround 1
- While the above setup message is displayed, hold down the CTRL key and press ESC. This brings up the Microsoft Windows Task List.
- Select Microsoft Office Manager from the list and choose Switch To.
- Select the Microsoft Office icon on the Office Manager toolbar to display the Office Manager menu. Choose the Exit command from the menu.
- Switch to the maintenance setup message, and choose the Retry button.
The MSOFFICE.EXE file will be deleted and Setup will continue.
Workaround 2
- In the Setup error message dialog box, choose the Ignore button. Setup will continue, removing all of the Microsoft Office Manager files except for the MSOFFICE.EXE file.
- After setup has completed, switch to Microsoft Office Manager. Select the Microsoft Office Manager icon and choose Exit.
- In File Manager, delete MSOFFICE.EXE from the C:\MSOFFICE directory (the directory referenced in the Setup error message).
MORE INFORMATION
The MSOFFICE.EXE file is the Microsoft Office Manager's executable file. If MOM is running, this file is in use and maintenance mode setup can not delete it.
