SYMPTOMS
Microsoft Works 3.0 for the Macintosh has problems converting Works for MS- DOS Database files. When you try to import Works for MS-DOS Database files, you may receive the following error:
There is no translator available to import the file <FILENAME.WDB>.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps
Open the Database file in Works 3.0 for MS-DOS
Save the file with the text extension (.txt).
Select Text & Tabs in the File Format section and save the file.
NOTE: If you receive a message about formatting, save the file without formatting.
Using Apple File Exchange on your Macintosh, transfer the document from the MS-DOS disk to the Macintosh hard drive.
NOTE: From the MS-DOS To Mac menu, choose Text.
Run Works 3.0 on your Macintosh.
Select the Database icon once, so it is highlighted.
Select the file that you translated from the MS-DOS-formatted disk and choose Open.
Press OK when the following message appears:
There is no translator available to import the file “filename.wdb”. Would you like to open it as a text file?
If the file is still not opening, try one of the following workarounds:
In Works for MS-DOS, choose Works Settings from the Options menu to make sure US is set as the country.

Reinstall Works for MS-DOS. The converters may have been installed incorrectly.
