WordArt Doesn't Detect TrueType Fonts

Q110518

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher version 2.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

In Publisher, when the default printer is a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet
series printer using the DeskJet printer driver version 2.14 and the
Print Quality option is set to Draft, WordArt may generate the
error message "No True Type fonts found" even though TrueType fonts
are enabled in Control Panel and are accessible in all other
applications within Windows.

RESOLUTION
==========

1. Change the printer driver option from Draft to either Normal or
   Presentation.

   -or-

2. Obtain an updated version of the printer driver from Hewlett-Packard.

MORE INFORMATION
================

When version 2.14 of the HP DeskJet 500C printer driver is being used
by Windows and the printer driver is set to Draft, WordArt 2.0 doesn't
detect TrueType fonts. Selecting Normal or Presentation mode causes
WordArt to detect the presence of TrueType fonts. Updating the printer
driver to version 3.1, the version currently being provided by
Hewlett-Packard, also corrects the problem.
