SYMPTOMS

Many Word features are available while you are using the Word picture editor that may not appear in the actual document.

NOTE: To run the picture editor, click Object on the Insert menu, and then click Microsoft Word Picture.

MORE INFORMATION

You can insert the following items in a picture window, but they may not appear in the actual document:

   Feature Results
   ------- -------
Header and Footer In most cases, the Header/Footer will not be
                            seen.

Page Numbers May not reflect the actual page number when
                            your document exceeds one page.

Break The section break will not be seen, but
section formatting like columns may be seen if
                            the section contains text.

   Comments/Annotations Will not be seen.

   Footnotes/EndNotes Will be seen.

Form Fields Cannot be accessed from the document, but the
result or default text of the Form Field will
                            be seen.

Other Behavior

Bookmarks:

Bookmarks can be inserted in a picture editing window, but you cannot go to or see that bookmark in the document.

Mail Merge:

It is possible to set up a mail merge main document in the picture window.

Protect Document:

Clicking Protect Document on the Tools menu while in the picture editor affects only the picture object, not the document itself.
