SYMPTOM
When you enter a FILLIN field is entered in the header or footer of a document in Word 2.0b or 2.0c for Windows, and then spell check the document, Word gets caught in an endless loop causing the application title bar to flash; Word appears to stop responding (hang).
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 2.0b and 2.0c for Windows. This problem was corrected in Word 6.0 for Windows. For more information on upgrading to Word 6.0 for Windows, contact Microsoft Sales Information Center at (800) 426-9400.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem:
- Click with your mouse anywhere inside the document window. The message “Spell check is complete” appears.
- Choose OK. The title bar will continue to flash.
- Minimize Word for Windows or switch to another application.
- Maximize or switch back to Word. The title bar should appear normally.
