PSS ID Number: Q110179 Article last modified on 10-26-1994

3.11

WINDOWS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows for Workgroups version 3.11

SYMPTOMS

After you update to Novell Ethernet adapters (for example, NE3200.COM, NE2000.COM, and so on, dated 9-22-94), your Windows for Workgroups system stops responding (hangs).

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) program puts the driver into a mode that allows invalid packets into the Ethernet MLID. The system hangs when it attempts to process these packets.

RESOLUTION

Update to the Novell Ethernet adapters (for example, NE3200.COM, NE2000.COM, and so on, dated 10-14-94) included in VLMUP1.EXE.

The Novell products discussed here are manufactured by Novell, Inc., a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products’ performance or reliability.
