  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel version 4.0, when you are using the CONVERT() function, if you use the abbreviation "nmi" for Nautical Miles, you will receive an #N/A error value. The correct abbreviation is "Nmi", where the N is capitalized.

Microsoft Excel Help for version 4.0 states that the abbreviation for nautical miles is "nmi." This information is incorrect. Page 64 of the "Function Reference" has the correct "Nmi" abbreviation.

MORE INFORMATION

The CONVERT() function is used to convert numbers from one unit of measure to another (feet to meters, miles to kilometers, and so on).

If this function is not available, you must install the Analysis ToolPak add-in macro.

For more information about add-in macros, see "Managing Add-in Commands and Functions" in Chapter 4 of the "User's Guide 2," version 4.0.

To locate the error in Microsoft Excel Help:

  1. In Microsoft Excel for Windows, choose Search from the Help menu and type "Convert" (without the quotation marks).

    -or-
