BUG: Function dbuse() Returns FAIL |
Q109992
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server Programmer's Toolkit, version 4.2
BUG# 9749 (4.20.50)
SYMPTOMS
Function dbuse() returns FAIL when changing databases. However, the error and message handlers indicate that the specified database context has been successfully changed.
CAUSE
If a user logs onto SQL Server before their default database is recovered, the first call to dbuse() will return FAIL even if the target database has recovered. Subsequent calls to dbuse will return SUCCEED provided that the database has recovered.
WORKAROUND
Calling dbuse() more than once will cause the correct return code to be returned. Also, despite returning FAIL, the database context will be set to what is specified in the call to dbuse().
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in DB-Library version 4.20.50. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
