PRB: Cannot Make Small Adjustments to Width with EGA Driver

Article ID: Q109932
Creation Date: 10-JAN-1994
Revision Date: 19-SEP-1996 The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Access versions 1.0 and 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When you are using an EGA video driver, you cannot make small adjustments to the width of a form or report in Design view by dragging the object's right border. When you try to do so, the object's width will change by a large amount. If you try to decrease the width of an object that is 18 inches wide by dragging the right border, the border will snap to the nearest control.

RESOLUTION

Change the object's width by modifying its Width property in the property sheet instead of by dragging its border.

STATUS

This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 2.0.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

NOTE: You must have an EGA video driver installed in Windows Control Panel to reproduce this behavior.

  1. Open the sample database NWIND.MDB.
  2. Open the Add Products form in Design view.
  3. Try to increase the form's width to 5 inches by dragging the right border. The form's width will increase several inches beyond the 5 inch setting.
  4. Drag the right border to increase the form's width to 18 inches.
  5. Drag the right border back to 17 inches. The form's width will return to the nearest control (approximately 4.25 inches).
