Publisher 2.0: Nudging or Zooming Makes Some Lines Disappear

Q109591

---------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, version 2.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

In Publisher 2.0, if you format a line or border with the Hairline
thickness and choose the lightest pattern in the Style box, the line will
disappear and reappear if you move the object with the Nudge Objects
command or if you change Zoom percentages. Diagonal lines may appear as
dashed lines.

Despite the incorrect display, the lines and borders should print
accurately to most printers.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior seems to be independent of screen resolution. The problem
occurs because Publisher uses a bitmap to display the line. The 25-percent
shade has bits spaced so far apart that on very thin lines the line is
occasionally drawn using a blank part of the bitmap.
