PRA: Datasheet and Run Buttons Disabled on Append Query

SYMPTOMS


When you create an append query using only a constant value in the Query- By-Example (QBE) grid, the Datasheet and Run buttons remain disabled, even though appending constant values is a valid query.

STATUS


Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access versions 1.0 and 1.1. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 2.0.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior


  1. Start Microsoft Access and open the sample database NWIND.MDB.
  2. Create a new query.
  3. Choose Close in the Add Table dialog box.
  4. From the Query menu, choose Append. Select any table in the Table Name box.
  5. Type "100" (without the quotation marks) in the Field row.

Note that the Datasheet and Run buttons remain disabled.
