The information in this article applies to:

  • == Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 3.0 and 4.0 ==

SUMMARY

When you install Microsoft Works for the Macintosh to the Macintosh TV, you may experience problems with the computer reading the Works installation disks. This problem can be corrected by duplicating the Works installation disks on another Macintosh with disks that have been formatted on the Macintosh TV.

MORE INFORMATION

To duplicate the Works disks, follow these instructions:

  1. Format five blank 800K disks on the Macintosh TV. If you have Works version 4.0, you will need to format six 1.4mb disks.

  2. Take these disks, and the Works installation disks, to another Macintosh model (for example, Macintosh IIci, Macintosh Performa, and so on) computer.

  3. Insert the first Works disk, and drag its disk icon onto the hard drive. A folder will be created on the hard drive with the name of the Works disk.

  4. Eject the first Works disk, and insert a disk that was formatted on the Macintosh TV.

  5. Open the folder that was created on the hard drive for the first Works disk, and drag the contents onto the blank floppy disk icon.

  6. Change the name of the blank floppy disk to be the same as the folder from which you copied the files. The five Works disk titles are:

    Works Disk 1 - Install Works Disk 2 Works Disk 3 Works Disk 4 Works Disk 5 Works Disk 6

  7. Return to step 3 and continue this process until you have duplicated all the disks.

Once you have duplicated the disks, return to the Macintosh TV, and run the installation for Microsoft Works.
