Article ID: 108693

Article Last Modified on 7/30/2001

SYMPTOMS

After installing TCP/IP from the TCP/IP for Microsoft Windows for Workgroups diskette, you may receive these error messages:

NET0101: Value for keyword not found in PROTOCOL.INI or TCPUTILS.INI file by TCP Unloadable TCP 1.0 not loaded.

NET0116: TCP access failure by Tiny RFC Tiny RFC 1.0 not loaded

NET0116: TCP access failure by NMTSR Unloadable NMTSR 1.0 not loaded

CAUSE

These errors indicate that the TCP/IP installation did not complete properly and the driver name keywords were not added to the TCPUTILS.INI file.

RESOLUTION

You can either re-install TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups, or add the missing driver names. To add them:

  1. Open TCPUTILS.INI. It has this form:

       [tcpglobal]
       username=USERNAME
       NetFiles=C:\WFW

       [sockets]

  2. Insert the keywords in these positions:

       [tcpglobal]
       drivername=GLOBAL$
       username=USERNAME
       NetFiles=C:\WFW

       [sockets]
       drivername=SOCKETS$

       [telnet]
       drivername=TELNET$
