The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, you can copy an edit box from a dialog sheet and paste it as a picture on a worksheet by clicking Paste Special on the Edit menu and selecting the Picture option. However, if you click Paste instead of Paste Special, nothing is pasted onto the worksheet and no error message is displayed.

CAUSE

In Microsoft Excel, you cannot place Edit boxes onto worksheets. If you click Paste Special and select the Picture option, you are only pasting a picture of the Edit box onto the worksheet and it will have no Edit box functionality.

STATUS

This is by design.
