SYMPTOMS
Some filenames created on a Macintosh computer are incompatible with Win32 application programming interfaces (APIs). These filenames include spaces or are very long (256 or more characters). NTFS supports these file names, but all Win32 applications do not. Because of this, unexpected results can occur when performing file operations on these files.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
