The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0
SUMMARY
In Microsoft Excel, the Objects setting (located on the View tab in the Options dialog box) can be set to one of three options: Show All, Show Placeholders, or Hide All. The setting you choose applies to all sheets in the current workbook.
In earlier versions of Microsoft Excel, the Objects setting is set for each individual sheet.
Because of this difference in how Object options are set, when you open a Microsoft Excel 4.0 workbook in Microsoft Excel versions 5.0 and 7.0, you may notice that objects are visible when they should be hidden.
MORE INFORMATION
When you open a Microsoft Excel version 4.0 workbook in either Microsoft Excel version 5.0 or 7.0, the setting in the workbook that makes the most objects visible will be applied to all of the sheets in the workbook. For example, if you open a workbook that contains the following sheets and settings
Sheet Object Setting ----------------------- Sheet1 Hide All Sheet2 Show Placeholders Sheet3 Show All
all the sheets will use the Show All option. If you open a workbook with these settings
Sheet Object Setting ----------------------- Sheet 1 Hide All Sheet 2 Show Placeholders Sheet 3 Hide All
all sheets will use the Show Placeholders option.
