PUB2: Descenders Clipped with Double-Spaced Text

PUB2: Descenders Clipped with Double-Spaced Text

Q107881

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY
=======

When typing into a text frame with double-spaced text, you may see the
descenders from the line above disappear and return (blinking on and off)
as you type. This happens throughout the entire double-spaced text frame.

MORE INFORMATION
================

In Publisher 2.0, the double- and triple-spaced text leave no spacing below
the line for the descender. As a result, the line below is only given the
point-size height instead of adding the extra 20 percent needed to view
correctly.

This happens if you set up your system to print to a wide variety of
printers such as the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet III, HP DeskJet,
PostScript, and Dot-matrix printers.

Note: Your printout will not be affected by this problem. This
problem only affects the screen display.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version
2.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
