Edit Code Fails When Object Formula Passes Parameters

SYMPTOMS

When an object is assigned to a procedure in a Microsoft Excel Visual Basic module, you can view or edit the supporting procedure by selecting that object and clicking the Edit Code tool on the Forms toolbar. However, you may receive either of the following error messages when you click the Edit Code toolbar button:

Error in Formula

-or-


Reference is not valid.

CAUSE

If a procedure that accepts arguments is assigned to that object, you will receive one of the error messages shown above. For example, if a macro button is assigned to the following macro:

   'Main(5)'
                

the problem will occur when you select the macro button and click Edit Code.

Another way to go to a specified procedure is to use the Edit Goto command (press the F5 key) and type the procedure's name. This will take you to the procedure you specify.
