SYMPTOMS

Encarta animations may look broken and distorted if you are using an S3 chip video card in any of the following video modes:

1280 x 1024 16 colors 1024 x 768 16 colors 800 x 600 16 colors 640 x 480 32,000 colors

Different parts of the image may appear to overwrite each other.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Encarta, 1994 edition. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

To avoid this problem, switch to a lower resolution or to 256 colors.
