|- Microsoft Windows Printing System version 1.0|
When you print to the Windows Printing System using the port LPT<x>.DOS, the printer output may appear garbled.
If you are using the port LPT<x>.DOS and Print Manager is active, Windows Printing System prints garbled text. If you disable Print Manager, the text prints correctly.
To work around this problem, disable Print Manager, or use the LPT<x> port setting.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows Printing System version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
Printing to LPT<x>.DOS is frequently used to work around printer problems. To avoid future difficulties, use other Windows troubleshooting steps whenever possible, even if using LPT1.OS2 or LPT1.DOS seems to solve the problem.
