PRB: Title or Subtitle Not on First Page of Source Listing

Q106397

7.00 | 1.00 1.50 MS-DOS | WINDOWS kbtool kbprb ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - The Microsoft C/C++ Compiler (CL.EXE) included with: - Microsoft C/C++ for MS-DOS, version 7.0 - Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows, versions 1.0 and 1.5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== The title or subtitle do not appear until the second page of the listing when using the /Fs compiler option to generate a source listing (.LST) file. This occurs when you use #pragma title() or #pragma subtitle() in the source file to specify a title or subtitle for the listing. RESOLUTION ========== This is the correct behavior and is not a problem with the compiler. To get the title or subtitle to appear on the first page of the listing, use the /St or /Ss compiler option instead of using a #pragma. To specify a title, use the /St option; to specify a subtitle, use the /Ss option. For example, to compile a file named CONTROL.C, title its listing "CONTROL MODULE", and subtitle it "VERSION 1.1", the compiler command line should resemble the following: cl /c /Fs /St"CONTROL MODULE" /Ss"VERSION 1.1" control.c This creates a source listing file named CONTROL.LST.
