SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start the network redirector, connect to a network drive, printer, or any other network device, the following error message may be displayed:

Network Busy

CAUSE

The "Network Busy" error message is usually caused by some type of hardware problem; it is rarely caused by the network being busy. Below are the most common causes of this error message:

  • Interrupt (IRQ) conflict
  • I/O address conflict
  • RAM address conflict
  • DMA conflict
  • Hub/Concentrator/Bridge/Router problem
  • Problem with another computer on the network
  • Disconnected or faulty cabling, connectors, or terminators
  • Faulty network card (on the local or a remote computer)
  • Incorrect Transceiver Type selection
  • Duplicate computer name on network
  • Incorrect network interface card (NIC) driver
