PUB: Copied Table Cells Wrap at Twelfth Column

PUB: Copied Table Cells Wrap at Twelfth Column

Q105872

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a
 - Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95, version 3.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

If you copy table cells from Publisher to Excel or Ami Pro, the table
cells will be wrapped after 12 columns. This occurs because Publisher
inserts a carriage return/line feed character every 6 inches in plain
text.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 2.0.
We are researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION
==========

To avoid this problem, you can copy the entire table and paste it as a
picture. The contents will not be editable, but the cells will also
not be wrapped.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Steps to Reproduce Problem
--------------------------

1. In Publisher, create a 13-column table.

2. Type text into the last two cells.

3. Select all the cells and choose Copy from the Edit menu.

4. Switch to Excel and choose Paste from the Edit menu.

The table cells appear, but are wrapped at the twelfth column.

If you choose an area of cells that is 13-columns wide and try to
paste into that area, you may receive an error message indicating that
the selected area does not match the area on the Clipboard. If you
choose to paste anyway, the cells will wrap at the twelfth column.
