The information in this article applies to: Microsoft Word for Macintosh, versions 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.1a SYMPTOMS PostScript fonts from Adobe or other third-party vendors print bitmapped to a PostScript printer when stored in System 7.1's Fonts folder. CAUSE The Apple LaserWriter printer driver version 7.0 does not recognize System 7.1's Fonts folder, so any PostScript fonts stored in the Fonts folder are not used when printing. System 7.1 installs the LaserWriter printer driver version 7.1. WORKAROUND To use PostScript fonts for printing, use either of the following methods: Use the Apple LaserWriter printer driver version 7.1 or later. -or- If you must use the LaserWriter version 7.0 driver, move the PostScript fonts from the Fonts folder into the Extensions folder and restart your Macintosh. MORE INFORMATION Under earlier versions of Apple's System software, PostScript fonts were stored in the System Folder (or in Extensions in System 7.0x). Under System 7.1, PostScript fonts can be stored in the Fonts folder. This behavior does not occur with the Apple Macintosh Operating System version 7.5 or later.
