Word: Back to Front Printing Not Available for All Printers PSS ID Number: Q105840 Article last modified on 11-30-1993 PSS database name: M_WorD

MACINTOSH

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 5.1

Summary:

In Word, back-to-front printing may not be available for all printers. Printers that do not use Apple’s LaserWriter driver may not have the Back To Front Option in the Print dialog box.

When you use the LaserWriter driver from Apple, Back To Front should be an option in the Print dialog box (from the File menu, choose Print). This feature is useful when you produce two-sided documents by selecting the Mirror/Even Odd check box in the Document dialog box (from the Format menu, choose Document).

In most cases, printers that do not have the Back To Front option can be adjusted to allow the pages to be sent back through the printer for two-sided printing.

More Information:

The following printers do not support back-to-front printing in Word version 5.1:

Apple Personal LaserWriter LS Apple StyleWriter Apple Personal LaserWriter SC GCC WideWriter GCC WriteMove GCC PLP II

For information about adjusting a particular printer, refer to that printer’s user’s guide.
