SYMPTOMS

On many Toshiba portable computers, 256-color mode does not work. When the computer is started, only some random color appears in the top part of the screen. The only workaround is to use 16-color mode.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
