SYMPTOMS
Password authentication fails in the following situation:
- Create a new account and choose the User Must Change Password at Next Logon box.
- Use RASPHONE and the account you just created.
- Change your password when prompted.
- When prompted for a callback number, type in the client's phone number.
When you try to use the new password, authentication fails.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
