"Document Has Too Many Paragraphs" Importing into Lotus Notes |
Q105317
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0
SYMPTOMS
When you try to import a Word 6.0 document into Lotus Notes 2.1 or 3.0 using the Microsoft Word file format import option, you may receive the following error message:
Document has too many paragraphs - it must be split into several documents.
CAUSE
The converter that Word 6.0 provides to Lotus Notes to allow it to read a Word document is only limited in the size of files it can handle by the amount of available disk space. However, this converter must function in conjunction with Lotus Corporation's own RTF reader converter _IRTF.DLL, which can handle a maximum file size of 64K.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, break up your original Word document into more than one file, and then import each file separately into Lotus Notes.
MORE INFORMATION
When you install Word 6.0 on a system on which Lotus Notes version 2.x or 3.0 is already installed, Word detects your Notes installation and automatically installs a converter that can be used by Notes to import Word version 1.x, 2.x, and 6.0 documents into a Notes memo.
