BUG: KEYBOARD Command Limited to Three Moves on a Menu

ID: Q105082

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, 2.6

SYMPTOMS

Only three KEYBOARD commands are executed at a time in FoxPro for MS-DOS when they are used to access menu options, regardless of how many KEYBOARD commands are in the program or procedure.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, append the following to each KEYBOARD command after the first one:

   +"{PAUSE 0}"

For example, use the following code as an alternative to the code given in the "More Information" section below:

   KEYBOARD "{ALT+S}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"+"{PAUSE 0}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"+"{PAUSE 0}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"+"{PAUSE 0}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"+"{PAUSE 0}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"+"{PAUSE 0}"

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FoxPro 2.0, 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, and 2.6 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

To reproduce this problem, create the following program:

   KEYBOARD "{ALT+S}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"
   KEYBOARD "{DNARROW}"

When this program is run, it will select the System menu but will only move the cursor down three times. Additional reference words: FoxDos 2.00 2.50 2.50a keys buglist2.00 buglist2.50 buglist2.50a buglist2.50b buglist2.60 KBCategory: kbprg kbbuglist KBSubcategory:
