How to Disable the Math Coprocessor

ID: Q105004

2.00 2.5x 2.6x MS-DOS

 kbhw

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 2.5x, 2.6x

To disable the math coprocessor, set the NO87 environment variable at the MS-DOS command prompt or in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. This action must be performed before FoxPro is invoked. For example:

   set NO87=8087 suppressed

The value of NO87 can be "1", "ON", "OFF", or "8087 suppressed". FoxPro checks for the existence of the NO87 environment variable, and if it is found, FoxPro uses floating-point emulation instead of the math coprocessor. To turn on access to the coprocessor, issue the following command at the MS-DOS command prompt:

    SET NO87=

NOTE: The NO87 MS-DOS environment variable does not work with FoxPro for Windows. Additional reference words: FoxDos 2.00 2.50 2.50a 2.50b 2.60 2.60a co-processor 8087 80287 80387 80487 KBCategory: kbhw KBSubcategory: FxenvAutoexec
