MergePRD Hangs Merging Fonts from PSNET.PRD

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for MS-DOS, versions 5.5, 6.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use the MergePRD utility to merge fonts from the network PostScript printer driver, PSNET.PRD, into another printer driver, MergePRD creates the output .PRD file, but the computer hangs (stops responding) when it tries to create the output .INI file.

STATUS

We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Use the POSTSCRP.PRD PostScript printer driver instead of PSNET.PRD to merge fonts. Both printer drivers support the same fonts.
