Scorecard Printing Tips

If you are printing on an HP LaserJet with 512K of memory or if your score cards print with some of the lines missing, set the printer graphics resolution to 75 dots per inch.

To do this:

  • From the Game menu, choose Print Score Card.
  • Choose the Options button.
  • In the Graphics Resolution box, choose 75 dots per inch.
  • Choose the OK button.
  • In the Copies box, choose the number of score cards you want to print.
  • Choose the OK button.

-=-=-=-=-

If you are having other problems printing the score card, try using the Generic/Text Only printer driver. This prints only text and scores.

To install the driver:

  • In Program Manager, open the Main Group.
  • Double-click the Control Panel icon.
  • Double-click the Printers icon.
  • Choose the Add button.
  • From the list, choose Generic/Text Only.
  • Choose the Install button.
  • When prompted, insert the Microsoft Windows disk which contains printer drivers.
  • Choose the OK button.

Before you print the score card, choose Print Score Card from the Games menu and make sure that Generic/Text Only is selected.

For best results, print the score card in portrait mode. If you print the score card in landscape mode, some information may not print.

Additional Troubleshooting

Some Video Seven video drivers cause display problems in Microsoft Golf. Make sure you have the latest driver for your video card; contact Headland Technology Inc. for updated drivers.

-=-=-=-=-

32,000 and 65,000 color video drivers do not work correctly with Microsoft Golf. If you experience problems such as a box appearing around the player, change your video mode to 16 or 256 colors.

-=-=-=-=-

Some sounds are cut short when using the IBM M-Audio sound driver from the Windows 3.1 WDL disks. Short sounds, such as the club hitting the ball, are completely cut off. Contact IBM for updates to the M- Audio sound driver.

-=-=-=-=-

If you’re using a MediaVision audio card, Microsoft Golf may freeze when you are chipping or putting. To resolve this problem, contact MediaVision for the most current drivers.

-=-=-=-=-

Under normal circumstances you can save 16 sound schemes (stored in the MSGLFSND.INI file). However, due to a size limit (64K) on Windows .INI files, a path name to the sound files of over 30 characters might limit you to fewer sound schemes. Too many characters in the path can corrupt the MSGLFSND.INI file. If this happens, reinstall Microsoft golf.

-=-=-=-=-

When Fly Bys, Tips, and other animation files open in Microsoft Golf, the colors in the Main view of the golf course behind the animation may change momentarily. This is normal. The color will be re- established in a matter of seconds.

Also, the first time an animation file is played after changing to a new video resolution, a brief profiling sequence will appear in the video playback window before the actual animation begins to play.

-=-=-=-=-

On computers with a DTK BIOS, the system freezes if you choose Help from the Post Shot Selections window. To regain control, on the front of the computer turn the Turbo feature off and back on again.

-=-=-=-=-

If you change from a high resolution to a lower resolution video mode, and you have manually positioned the windows in Microsoft Golf, they may be positioned outside the view of your monitor and you won’t see them when you start Microsoft Golf in the new mode. Quit Microsoft Golf, and then delete the MSGOLF.INI file from the directory where you installed Microsoft Golf. Restart Microsoft Golf and a new MSGOLF.INI file will position all of the windows so that you can see them.
