SUMMARY

When you sort a Microsoft Works spreadsheet containing both text and numeric values, Works will sort numeric values first, then text values; numeric values have a higher precedence.

In addition, numbers formatted as numbers will sort numerically. However, numbers formatted as text will sort alpha fashion, not numerically.

For example, if you entered the following into a spreadsheet:

A1 2 A2 12 A3 1

Depending on the way the cells are formatted, you will receive different results after sorting:

Formatted as Numeric Formatted as Text
A1 1 A1 1
A2 2 A2 12
A3 12 A3 2
