PSS ID Number: Q104741 Article last modified on 10-22-1998

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use multiple columns in the Microsoft Works draw layer or module, scrolling the document window can cause the text to shift down in the column(s) inappropriately.

WORKAROUNDS

Workaround 1

Text in the first column will shift down so that the first line of text appears at the top of the window. If you scroll up the document window, there will be a blank space at the top of the column. This blank space cannot be deleted. To restore the correct alignment of text in the column, do the following:

  1. Make sure the top of the first column is visible in the document window.
  2. Click the text in the second column.
  3. Click the first column.

The text in the first column will readjust to the top of the column.

Workaround 2

To work around this problem, do the following:

  1. Click first on the column. This resets and readjusts the column.
  2. Click the area you want to edit. Works will allow editing.

This process will behave the same way with one column.

MORE INFORMATION

NOTE: This problem does not occur in Microsoft Works 4.0.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create two columns in the draw module or layer.
  2. Scroll the document window down so that the top of the first column does not show.
  3. Click the text in the second column.
  4. Click the first column.
