Excel: Unattached Text Boxes in Chart Are Renamed

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, if a chart contains multiple unattached text boxes and you delete one of the text boxes, the remaining text boxes may be renamed.

Example

If you have three unattached text boxes that are referenced as Text 1, Text 2, and Text 3. When you delete Text 2, Text 3 is renamed to Text 2.
