To place a tab in a cell in Microsoft Excel versions 5.0 and 7.0, press CTRL+ALT+TAB while in Edit mode. In versions of Microsoft Excel earlier than 5.0, you press CTRL+TAB to place a tab in a cell while in Edit mode; in versions 5.0 and 7.0, CTRL+TAB toggles through your active workbooks.

A common use for tabs in cells is to indent macro code.
