XL4: Cell Pattern Format Not Copied to Inserted Cell |
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 4.0
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel version 4.0, when you insert a cell, row, the pattern format is not copied from an adjacent cell if the new cell is inserted between two cells that contain different pattern formatting.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel version 5.0.
MORE INFORMATION
In Microsoft Excel, when you insert a cell, row, or column, all cell formats are copied from the cell above the inserted cell (when you are shifting cells down or inserting a row) or to the left of the inserted cell (when you are shifting cells right or inserting a column).
The exception to this rule is the behavior described above; cell pattern formatting may not be copied to inserted cells in Microsoft Excel version 4.0.
