The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 1.0, 1.1, 2.0

SUMMARY

On certain Macintosh computers, 32-bit addressing cannot be turned off. It is necessary that 32-bit addressing be off in order to run Works versions 1.0 and 2.0.

MORE INFORMATION

Any PowerMacintosh model 5200 and higher will have this setting turned on by default. Additionally, any machine running MacOS 7.6 will not have the option to turn off this setting.

NOTE: For the Centris 660AV, Quadra 660AV, and the Quadra 840AV you may be able to view the 32-bit addressing section, but will not be able to turn it off.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works versions 1.0 and 2.0. This problem was corrected in Works versions 3.0 and 4.0.
