This also occurs when you embed PowerPoint slides into Publisher. This is only a display problem. The shaded PowerPoint objects print correctly from Publisher. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher versions 2.0 and 2.0a. This problem was corrected in Publisher version 3.0 for Windows 95. MORE INFORMATION ================ Although Publisher 2.0 can display 256 colors, its generic palette does not include 37 tints or shades of the same color. For instance, you may create a shaded object in PowerPoint that uses 37 different tints of blue. Publisher's standard 256-color palette may only include six tints of blue. For this reason, the shading is represented in Publisher by only six bands of color. PowerPoint, on the other hand, can display 37 shades of the same color because it manages and updates its palette dynamically to include whatever colors it needs in order to display the object(s) on the slide. This display problem does not occur in Publisher 1.0. When you copy shaded PowerPoint objects into Publisher 1.0, the shading displays correctly. Publisher 1.0 behaves differently in this instance than Publisher 2.0 because Publisher 2.0 uses palette management to make sure that the colors you see in a picture won't change when you import a second picture. Publisher 1.0 does not use this palette management, so you may import a picture, then import a second picture, and the colors in the first picture may change. The drawback of the palette management used in Publisher 2.0 to prevent this problem is that individual pictures may not display as well.
